Letter from Viz

This was in Viz magazine in the Letters - In His public apology, Russell Brand said that all he's ever wanted to do was to make people laugh. Okay, Russell, any time you're ready.

Arrrgghh - Can't look at his face! Must punch into pulp so he doesn't infect the gene pool!

Did you laugh when you read it?

Because that would mean, technically speaking, he made you laugh would it not? ;)

There's a rumour going about that he's going to be playing Johnny Depp's brother in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, after Pirates 3 I doubt if I'd bother with 4 even if Brand wasn't in it !!

My girlfriend thinks he's good looking.

It wasn't really working out with her anyway.

He's got legs like two broken mop handles and the hair to complete the ensemble. A comedy body to be sure but it needs to be cremated.

Wow, feel the love Mr Brand. Fair play to Viz for a good gag, but unlike 41,958 of the people who complained about his show I actually listened every week and enjoyed it. Whenever he was doing it with his regular co host Matt Morgan (as opposed to the week he made that phone call and was playing a little celebrity self indulgence that got out of hand with Mr Ross) it was, for me, comedy gold and I really miss it.

Obviously comedy is one of those things which divides alot of people, if he doesn't make you laugh you're obviously never going to like him.
There are many 'comedy greats' which continually don't connect with me - Al Murrays Pub landlord, for example, has never gotten a laugh out of me personally, though I appreciate hes very popular and obviously I'm just not his audience. But I just wanted to say I enjoy Brands comedy, I find him genuinely funny and if that's the case he obviously has succeeded at some level.

I must be living under a rock...who is this ... uh ... guy?

Fraser Lovatt said...

I envy your rock and wonder if there is any room left for me under it.

At least he didn't get his nob out like Barrowman, mind you that was a radio interview. Is it bigger in audio?

Oh, scared myself again.

Fraser - tis a large enough rock for many. I call it my den. There I write, draw, edit, sound mix...consume beer...

That sounds excellent -- now we know where the BSMBOW readership can flee to when the Russell Brand Zombie Apocalypse comes. I'll just stock up on shotgun shells, tequila and pasta.
