Gandalf ?

No, not a picture of Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings but Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

In the heat of battle: Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) and Harry have gone on a perilous journey into a cave filled with dark magic and are attacked by Inferi, reanimated and haunted dead people. Dumbledore creates a firestorm to fend off the dangerous spooky creatures. "It's almost a biblical image," says Yates. "He's a bit like Charlton Heston when he parts the Red Sea."

I hadn't even seen a harry potter film until last year, let alone read any of the books.

Can't wait for this film now. Very well realised movies, nice production design and some acting too.

I've only seen the 2nd film fully and from what I've seen of the other films I don't think I'm missing much !! Still they keep lots of British actors in work ! :)

Haven't minded the films so far, but I suspect it helps if you're a fan of the books. Which I'm not.

Well, I say I'm not a fan, what I mean to say is I ain't read them. I'm sure they're fabulous. But I fear I lack the relevant qualifications to regard myself as a fan.

I suspect when my son's old enough they'll be read to him at bed time.

And yeah, not just British actors but British effects houses too.

Also, I really like 'Young Sherlock Holmes and the Pyramid of Fear'... written by Chris Columbus who directed the first Potter movie I believe.

Oh yeah I really liked Young Sherlock !! Yeah you're right about the FX houses too, and I suppose just general film crews here in the UK, glad to see that Harry Potter stayed British, though the earlier films used places like Alnwick Castle,Durham Cathedral,Goathland Station and Pickering Station here in the North East the later ones have not.

Philosopher's stone certainly has a similar 'boarding school adventure' feel to it as Holmes and I think that's what I liked about that one.

As for kids and acting, I'm a 'Devil's Backbone' fan (much prefer that movie to 'Pan's Labyrinth') and that sort of sets a high benchmark.

Quite like the one directed by alfonso cuaron (Prisoner of azakhaban). Had a nice grungy feel to it. The plot was a bit meh though. Seen the others except the most recent one which I couldn't be bothered with. Thet're all pretty forgettable though.

Really looking forward to this. I read all 7 novels through last month and am really excited by by seeing the Half Blood Prince realized on the big screen. I think it will be a cracker.
