As far as British comedy goes Spaced is one of those shows that is considered a classic by many people, and like The Young Ones you couldn't imagine anybody else playing those characters. Now news has come of an American remake of our beloved Spaced. I'm pleased to read Simon Pegg isn't happy about the way it's being handled, he says "If they don't care about the integrity of the original, why call it Spaced? Why attempt to find some validation by including mine and Edgar's names in the press release as if we were involved? Why not just lift the premise?"Now there are lots of American comedy's I like, but for me a show like Spaced is typically British and should stay that way, I know of many Americans who already love the show.

I guess I'm not all that surprised, really - it was inevitable. I don't want to prejudge* but this can only be utter crap. I think they will completely miss the point, since much of what made Spaced great is untranslatable.
In a way, we've already seen part of it when Simon Pegg et al tried to make Hollywood-esque films with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, which just weren't as good as Spaced was.
The Spaced remake will be abject pants. I look forward to having a healthy sneer at it without actually watching any.

What a crap idea! We all know Americans can't do sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek humour.
Are they just gonna re-write the same episodes with American cast, like they did with The Office?
That's why we Americans end up remaking so much. When funny hits the highs it does with "typically British" humor, there is nothing left to do but imitate.
Now I have to try to watch Spaced before we ruin it over here.....

about the only thing worth watching on TV right now is House, Galactica and Dexter.
Don't worry too much. They'll just churn out a horrible imitation that will soon be forgotten, but in the process bring exposure of the original to the Masses. DVD sales will go up and true fans of Spaced will have new American fans joining their ranks! You'll just have to suffer through and weather the storm.
Of course, its easier said than done... I'm still raging over what FOX has done to the ALIEN franchise.
(Banging head against brick wall) Spaced cannot be remade. It is essentially perfect in itself. They will fail miserably and serve them right I say.
If I didn't know better I'd have thought this was an April Fool. This is a stupid idea.
I had only seen the gunfight episode, but I've been watching them now on YOUTUBE and I'm hooked. No one could re-do this show and to make it an American show would be stupid.
