Kit Part Spotting

Recently whilst watching The Last Starfighter I noticed that Alex's helmet had a part from the rear area of the Aifix/MPC model of Darth Vader's Tie Fighter made in 1978.

It can be on the left side of his helmet (picture right) below the chin area.

The same part also shows up in the opening shots of Alien on the bottom of the Nostromo as part of an antenna array. The part also shows up on Servelan's ship in Blake's 7 and on the large Star Destroyer bridge model made for Return of the Jedi.

I had that model and was always amazed at the detail, seems lots of film makers were too.

That helmet looks odd now you've pointed it out, the detail on the other side looks blank like a bit may have fallen off, I suppose it's meant to be like that though.

I'll have to check other shots of it and Grig's helmet, maybe a part has fallen off !
Mike, I've had that kit a few times and still scavenge parts from them. That and the Airfix Saturn V rocket. Both great for bits !

Oh yeah, and I made a digital version of this part a while ago to dress various CG models with !!!!
