Richard Dolan -- 2000AD Cover Art

I was looking through an old drive the other day and I found these pics of 2000AD cover that my mate Richard Dolan did many moons ago. The bottom 2 pictures are from a story entitled Travels with muh' Shrink, myself and a few other friends appeared in this story as various characters, and the character that I posed for gets headbutted by Mean Machine. :)
All these pictures were painted with Oil paints on board.

I loved his stuff when I was a kid... Still do! I wish he had a web presence!

I still have my first 370 odd issues of AD in a box somewhere, including prog 1 with the free spinner.

Splundig Vur Thrigg, and all that.

These are great covers.

His stuff is brilliant. It would be really cool if he did collect some of his work in a book as there isn't enough of him on the web. His creature design stuff is incredible and there's a sampling of it over on the Qurios blog.

I remember these covers particularly well from growing up reading 2000ad-it was a pleasure to finally meet Richard @ Uli's studio & be able to ask him all about these oil painted covers. There's a small gallery of his artwork on Uli's studio website.

Matt, that gallery on Uli's site could do with a bit of an update as it's been there a fair while now.
