Weaver won't return to 'Alien' seriesThe actress, who played Lieutenant Ellen Ripley in the sci-fi series, told MTV that any hopes of her returning to the franchise were "killed" by the Alien vs Predator films.
However, Weaver expressed a desire to work with Alien director Ridley Scott again and revealed that the pair had discussed an idea for a sequel.
She said: "The last time [Ridley and I] saw each other we talked about it. The character is still interesting [and] I'd love to work with Ridley again.
"But Fox has effectively killed it because of Alien vs Predator. What else can you do with the creature? You can take the situation, you can go back to where they came from."
The 58-year-old added: "To play someone who ages a couple hundred years was fascinating. [But] let [Ripley] rest."

I really hope we never see another Alien movie now, the creature just isn't scary anymore, it's been paraded across the screen too much now. Just let the franchise be. Somehow I get the feeling that Sigourney will return in a few years and try and justify it by saying she thought there was still a story to tell etc... etc...

For me, Aliens was the pinnacle of the franchise and no matter what gets done in the future, the whole thing has been forever tarnished by AVP which in itself had so much potential, and like Alien, was wasted by the idiot moneymen.

The original film, as originally screened in cinemas, is still the finest of the series but Cameron's director's cut of the sequel is an excellent follow-up.
Good for Weaver... nice to see a Hollywood actress displaying some self respect. I loved Alien 3 but found 4 excrutiatingly bad. And you're right - the alien is no longer scary. Bringing it out of the shadows was a bad move. It's lost its mystique. No more please.
