Catherine Tate as Doctor Who's assistant

I can't stand the woman, she was enough in the Christmas special to put up with but I can't stomach a whole series of her !!!

Time Lord, bothered? Tardis, Time And Relative Dimensions In Space... face: bothered? Are you calling Doctor Who's companion a pikey?

Yeah. I can almost hear the dialogue now. RTD needs to be exterminated.

I can't stand her either so I won't be watching "Doctor Who" next year for the first time in my life! And, as I set up my blog, back in 2005, specifically to talk about the programme, it looks like I shall have to find a new hobby!!

I really can't see what problem people have with Catherine Tate. There seems to be a "cult of hate for Catherine Tate".

She's not even filmed any scenes for the show yet and already fans are screaming 'Bonnie Langford' at her very involvement in the show.

There's a whole campaign out there already! Do people hate her this much?

It certainly seems to be the 'trend'.

Most common 'I hate Catherine Tate' remark is that people hate the character's she plays, and hate her.

Given as the programme she plays all these characters in is called "The Catherine Tate Show" it makes me wonder why people who detest her so much watch it in the first place!

I think there's definitely a bit of 'monkey see monkey do' with regard to all the lack of love. Sure, there's plenty who draw their own conclusions regarding Ms Tate, but there are plenty more who don't. Someone can be incredibly popular for no good reason just as someone can be incredibly unpopular. It's all the rage.

hence the 'cult of hate Tate'.

....Mmmmm who is Catherine Tate?

I. N. J. Culbard said...

moif, she's one of Britain's most loved, cherished, celebrated Actresses of all time.

You see, in Britain, baying for someone's blood is a sign of true affection. Hatred is the highest form of flattery. People cringe when they see her on the telly box because they're overwhelmed with envy and adoration for what can only be described as "one of Britain's greatest talents".

Hmmm. Pretty bad news I reckon, but it'll not stop me watching. I mean, I thought I didn't like Ian McShane until I watched Deadwood.
There may be a cult of hate, my problem with Catherine Tate is I don't find her funny, a drawback for a comedian. And I hate her line in cosy middle class amdram sterotypical characterisation.
