Roscoe Lee Browne dies

The two things I remember Roscoe Lee Browne for as I grew up in the 70's were his narration on The Story of Star Wars LP, I would sit for hours listening to that album and looking through the 16 page booklet of Star Wars pics, it's hard to imagine atime before VHS and DVD but this album was the only way to experience Star Wars for me outside of the cinema. He also played the voice of the robot 'Box' in Logan's Run, his job was to freeze animals to provide food for the dome. He is quoted as saying "Fish, and plankton, and sea greens, and protein from the sea. It's all here. Ready! Fresh as harvest day!" He is surrounded by things like a frozen walrus, birds, etc.... and Jenny Agutter wearing nothing but a fur skin rug.

I didn't really follow Roscoe's career and the only other movie that springs to mind that I seen him in was Roland Emmerich's Moon 44, he was also the narrator for the film Babe and did the voice of Mr Arrow in Disney's Treasure Planet, but his memorable voice reading Star Wars to me from that album as an 11 year old will stick with me.

Rest in peace Roscoe.

surrounded by "Jenny Agutter wearing nothing but a fur skin rug"? Now that is a career to envy.

I still have the LPs to all three movies. My boys listened to them a few time. Fun stuff.

Sad news, Andrew.

I've seen "Logan's Run" more times than I care to remember. I can sing the incidental music all the way through even when I haven't seen it in a few years, it's that memorable. The scene that always confounds me, though, is how they manage to close the door against the water pressure!

I saw "Logan's Run", on release, at the cinema in the days when they paused films halfway through for the mandatory ice cream break! In this case, it was taken just after the scene with Box, when Logan and Jessica feel the rays of the Sunshine for the first time as they discover what it's like to be outside the confines of the city.
