See if only the Star Wars prequels had bothered with Kung-Fu Robots !
A bit of a follow up to my post about Ron Perlman's birthday. Stewart Raffill who directed this also did The Philadelphia Experiment and Mac and Me, check out the fabulous Mac and Me clip over at Jim's Blog here Saturday, April 21, 2007
I had absolutely no idea I was waiting to see that.
Wow. Funny how these movies take you completely by surprise. One minute I was sat down relaxing, drinking a cold glass of lemonade when suddenly, from out of nowhere... Ice Pirates!
Man I used to love that film! Those robots were so cool! The main robots that is, not the one whose mummy robot is run over by a bike in the movie. Space Herpes, castration by a large metal claw, a disembodied head where the actors body is on complete show, with no attempt to hide it made whatsoever! And best of all a Drew Struzan poster, from the good old days when such efforts were made.
How sad that Robert Urich and John Matuszak (aka Sloth from The Goonies) are no longer with us.
The strange thing is Nik I remember being able to see the guys T-Shirt too in those shots of the head, and it seemed to change from scene to scene, like they knew but had a bit of fun with it, but on the DVD it in 1.85:1 not 4.3 like the VHS so you can't see his body in those shots anymore because the framing is different.

I should have known.
Wow. Depravity in zero gravity. Now there's a show!

Boy I haven't seen this film in ages. Is it on Region 2 DVD as I can't seem to find it anywhere ?
Play.com have the Region 1 release from around 7 quid, but I don't think there's a Region 2 out yet.
