Robby the Robot

I've watched a few things recently which have had the Forbidden Planet character Robby the Robot make an appearance, although in 2 of these he's had a bit of a make over and has a central green eye. He's actually been in a lot of shows including appearances in the odd episode of Lost in Space, Mork and Mindy, Stacked with Pamela Anderson, and even Columbo. The original prop is now owned by Director William Malone (Creature).

Doesn't he crop up in the first Star Wars as part of the jawas swag?

No but he should have done. There's a Robot they do have on show that has a Robby the Robot type look to it though, this is what you may mean R1-G4 http://tienda.dreamers.com/imagenes/45955.jpg

Aha.
Should I not be surprised that a 'blink and you'll mistake it for someone else' character ends up as a toy? Oh, that Lucas, always has his eye on the money, sorry, story.

Yeah it's a wonder he hasn't made figures of the actors getting put into costume,or the crew making the movie,or the audience that went to see them etc... etc... :) Merchandise is just mad these days, put Star Wars on a dog turd and people would buy it...oh hang on they did,it was called Revenge of the Sith !!

Talking of Star Wars, I came across this on the Scifi 3d site.

All I can say is 'lucky bastard!'

Those CG R2's that Mike builds are incredible, they look real. And that pic of him with the real R2's is very cool too. He also build an amazing X-Wing and an interior corridor of the Rebel Blockade Runner.

The car paint shaders on the R2 are really smart. I always wanted an R2 unit when I was a kid... not sure if I've grown out of that yet?
