Ewan McGregor regrets 'Star Wars'

I don't think this comes as much of a suprise really. I think Natalie Portman feels the same way going by her performance in the 3 prequels.


Ewan McGregor has admitted that he regrets appearing in the Star Wars movies.

The actor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith, spoke about his best and worst films during a visit to a Scottish hospice.

Hamish Glasgow, whose three-year-old son Cameron suffers from rare disease Hoyeraal Hreidarsson, told The Sun: "Ewan was really down to earth. He was great with Cameron. He was really relaxed and you could tell he's a really good dad.

"He said the favourite movie he'd done was Trainspotting and the one he liked least was Star Wars."

I think this airs in the US tomorrow,the 10th. From what I've read this show has no Rocket Ships, they travel via a wormhole/portal. Still looks incredibly naff from what I've seen clips wise, and the guy they've got there playing Ming looks naff as does the set they're here posing on.

I was amused by the synopsis for this film when reading the box in HMV the other day.

Synopsis

Britain 2007, Bryant (Sean Bean) arrives back to Britain from Iraq. The soldier finds a country he no longer recognises; violent crime, drugs, rape and murder rule the streets. He decides enough-is-enough, it`s time to fight back. Soon a small group of men gravitate to him and his cause, and together they take the law into their own hands. In Aliens the screen has a D for Hicks' name, and we hear him say his name is Dwayne.

Hey all, been on holiday with the family in case you're wondering why there's been no updates or your comments never got posted up straight away. Cheers for all the feedback while I've been away.
We didn't travel too far away from where we live, about an hour an a half's journey. The weather was hit and miss and I've been suffering for the past few weeks either from pulled muscles or a cracked rib, all I know is it feels like a knife in my ribs when I sneeze or cough. And getting comfortable in bed is a chore.

Aliens - James Remar

Again seeing these pics it's quite hard to imagine Aliens without Michael Biehn as Hicks.

Hicks was originally played by James Remar, but Michael Biehn replaced him a few days after principal photography began, due to "artistic differences" between Remar and director James Cameron. However, Remar still appears in the finished film - but wearing the same armor, and shot from behind, it's impossible to tell the difference between the two actors.IMDB

Jon Finch was originally cast as Kane but on the first day of shooting, he looked extremely ill. Medics were called and Jon Finch was immediately taken to hospital where it was discovered that he had an extreme case of diabetes. It's strange seeing these photos, it's hard to imagine Alien and the famous chestburster scene without John Hurt, and also it makes you wonder how Finch's career might have gone in other directions had he been in Alien.

It topped a poll of 3,000 Radio Times readers - who were barred from choosing Doctor Who because it was "too obvious".

The X Files was second, followed by Lost, Life On Mars and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Radio Times editor Gull Hudson said: "Seeing Life On Mars and Lost in the top 10 was no surprise - they are perfect examples of `unreality TV` which is becoming one of the defining trends of the Noughties.

"But Red Dwarf at number one? That did surprise us. It hasn`t even been on TV this century.

"By taking Doctor Who out of the running - which usually wins every sci-fi and fantasy show poll going - we`ve obviously blown the field wide open. But it also goes to show the kind of long-term loyalty that these shows inspire."
Star Trek: The Next Generation, starring Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, was sixth - two places ahead of the original Sixties series.

Mystery Alien

I was watching my Battle Beyond the Stars DVD the other evening and on the extras there's a simple quiz that if you get correct leads to a slide show of Pics and Behind the scenes stills from the movie. There are 2 of an Alien with a gun that doesn't appear in the movie and there are no captions to explain who he is and why he's not in the final film. He reminds me a bit of the bad guys from The Last Starfighter though.

Edit: Actually looking at this I think he may fit in as a bounty hunter after Robert Vaughn's character Gelt who is in hiding when Shad (Richard Thomas) finds him, the place where Gelt is hiding is a dark old abandoned gambling complex/world. Then again I could be wrong.

'Bill & Ted' planned without original stars

The sequel to the Bill & Ted movies has been given the go ahead, but it will not star the original leads Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

It has been over twenty years since the last film was made, which threw Reeves and Winter into the spotlight with its blockbuster success.

The franchise about two time travelling teenagers will have a third installment added when it goes into production later this year.

It was thought both Winter and The Matrix actor Reeves had wanted to reprise their roles but according to The Times Reeves' agent advised him against it because he was concerned it would ruin his career.

MGM Studios and 360 Pictures have joined forces with horror producer Frank Mancuso Jr. to make the movie with new leads.

Just found out that Kerwin Mathews who played Sinbad in The 7th Voyage of Sinbad passed away earlier this month. He also appeared in The 3 Worlds of Gulliver that Ray Harryhausen provided the FX for, and the Sinbad wannabe Jack the Giant Killer in which he worked again with 7th Voyages Torin Thatcher and Director Nathan Juran.

Dennis Hopper in talks for 'Doctor Who'

Cool, I hope he's playing a time traveling version of his Frank Booth character from Blue Velvet


Dennis Hopper is in talks to make a guest appearance in the next series of Doctor Who.

The 71-year-old American actor is being lined up by show producers to play a baddie in series four, which starts filming next month.

A source told The Sun: "Dennis is a big fan of the show and bosses are really keen to get him on board. Discussions have been going on for some time but his diary is proving a nightmare to work around. However everyone is hopeful they can make something work."

Hopper is best known for his roles in Blue Velvet and Easy Rider.

I was watching a program the other evening about Photography and they said that the Photographic plates shot in the Edwardian Era 1901-1910 using the Kodak Box Brownie brought out in 1900 will easily outlast the sort of Digital photographs being snapped on throw away technology like Mobile phones, cheap digi camera's etc... , they claim that in another 100 years time there could be less photographic records of family life than the hundred years before when people had to get there photo's developed, stored negatives in shoe boxes etc...

Tennant pledges future as 'Who'

David Tennant has insisted that he has no immediate plans to leave Doctor Who.

The actor admitted that he is baffled by the constant speculation about his future in the role - because he is enjoying every minute of playing The Doctor.

"From the moment I took the job there has been speculation I was leaving. I'm having the time of my life and I wouldn’t want it any other way at the moment," Tennant told Wales on Sunday.

However, David confessed that he was extremely worried about fan reaction before his debut episode, The Christmas Invasion, aired in 2005.

"The show had been such a huge hit. It was such a big deal," he explained. "So much had been written and speculated on and I guess it was the thought of people saying, 'Oh, he wasn't as good as the last chap'."

He added: "I'm just delighted the fans aren't burning effigies of me in the street. To take on the role of Doctor Who and escape with my credibility was all I wanted to do."
