Poor old Nigel, he'll be missed. Always remember the big locust folk in the film version of the pit "jumping, leaping".
Saw 'The Stone Tapes' recently, very 70's and flaky but with good solid writing and suspense (and a cute Jane Asher). Just waiting for a remake on BBC4, there's bound to be one.
Quatermass and the Pit is still one of my favourites by Kneale, loved the Hammer film
