Halloween - remake

Oh boy, yet another remake of a classic film on the go now, John Carpenter's 1978 low budget classic Halloween, which spawed 6 direct sequels, and one sequel that was unconnected, is due to be remade by Rob Zombie for release next year. They've already done The Texas Chainsaw Massacre so a remake of Friday the 13th must be next.

I remember being scared shitless watching the original on TV with my brother while my parents were away. I was huddled on one side of the couch completly covered with an afgan with just my face sticking out. I think he was covered and looking through the holes in the afgan.
Whats your take on remakes?

I don't really like remakes,it's not so bad if it was an adaptation of a novel in the first place, say like Frankenstein/Dracula etc... I mean they've been done tons of times, but remakes of oiginal films are becoming more the norm these days, and the space between the original and the remake is getting shorter,it's just a quick way for Hollywood to make cash without having to think too much !!

Its like hollywood is eating its self, I think all the mainstream films this year are remakes of old films or tv series. Even Superman Returns is a lame (very lame) remake of the first film.

Of course, a remake of Blakes 7 is totally acceptable, as its not American....
